Singaporean students have been honoured with the top ranking in their class in more than 100 other countries, in the latest results of the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA), a global study of 15-year-olds.

The average PISA score among Singaporean students - at 504 points - is the highest ever recorded by the highly regarded international test.
It is an improvement of 15 points from the 590 points recorded in 2011.
The Singaporean students ranked fifth in the world for mathematics, and sixth in science among more than 35 countries.
The top students in Singapore were in the 8th and 10th grade.
For the first time, a majority of students from the region could do as well or better in mathematics as in the U.S.
Some 50 countries had scores for reading below the U.S.
Among those who took the test, the U.S. had the highest average score at 586, with the Dutch achieving the second highest at 574 points.
